Manifesto
We want to do useful work with people who care about it. Goose Group gives Mike and Alex a way to work directly with those people, charge for our time, and take responsibility for what we agree to do.
Stay close enough to understand
The person doing a job knows things a distant account of it will miss. We want to work alongside them, try their ideas, and follow the consequences of what we make. AI can give them more room to act when their judgment shapes the tools.
Make the work visible
People should be able to see the sources, examples, code, corrections, and decisions behind a result. That makes it possible to disagree with us, improve the work, and continue it. We should be willing to show where our understanding changed.
Keep the freedom to say what is true
Independence matters because good advice sometimes means declining a project, questioning a plan, or saying that enough has been built. We want relationships where that candour is useful and where the other person can be equally direct with us.
Leave people more able to carry it
Customers keep the source, tools, and knowledge we create together. Working ourselves out of a job means helping people understand and change what they own. Further work should follow from something useful to do.
Teaching, maintaining something, making a decision, or helping a colleague find their way can all be contributions. The test is what became easier or more possible for another person.
Leave room for a life around the work
We want a company whose size and commitments leave room for curiosity, writing, art, and generous things. Some things deserve to be made well without a business case attached to them.
These are choices to keep examining through what we do. The company account develops them in more detail.
